Cedric Terrell, Pharm.D is the District Director, Pharmacy Services at Palomar Health in San Diego, CA. Palomar Health (PPH) is the largest Non-Profit, Public Hospital District in California – serving more than 500,000 residents in Inland North San Diego County over an 850-square mile area. Within Palomar Health, he serves as the primary resource for the health system in regards to strategic planning, development, implementation, optimizing cost-effective medication-use processes, and appropriate oversight and management of drug utilization. His experience(s) vastly include development and implementation of pharmacy practice services, therapeutic programs and protocols; medication utilization reviews; supervising pharmacy clinical programs, as well as associate professor of pharmacy clinical practice to multiple affiliate colleges of pharmacy. His direct patient care experience includes emergency medicine, critical care, and internal medicine services, which involved daily collaboration with primary care physicians and residents, and providing patient assessment for appropriate pharmacotherapy.

Dr. Terrell’s administrative experience includes: successful project planning and implementation of pharmacy services for fully automated medical facilities, strategic planning and development of pharmacy services for an integrated delivery network (IDN), and Pharmacy Practice Residency Program design, implementation and accreditation. Additional experiences include: Planning, development, and implementation of Bar-code Medication Administration Process(es), Structure, Design, and build for Computerized Physician Order Entry in both Cerner and Meditech information systems; Implementation and optimization of Automated Drug Procurement and distribution systems; and optimizing clinical pharmacy programs for multiple medical centers.

Dr. Terrell has been asked to speak on various topics related to patient care and pharmacy operations including: Strategic Planning for Medication Use Technologies, Implementing Barcode Verification and Scanning Processes, Optimizing Automated Drug Procurement and Distribution Processes, Pharmacotherapy and Management of Chronic Kidney Disease, Venous Thromboembolism, and Laboratory Medicine, as well as other areas related to clinical and operational pharmacy practice.

Dr. Terrell is currently a member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacist (ASHP), California Society of Health System Pharmacist (CSHP) and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy at Florida A&M University, College of Pharmacy in Tallahassee, FL.

Hobbies/ Interest
Dr. Terrell is originally from Jacksonville, FL. He is an avid fan of college and professional football, as well as soccer. He maintains a rigorous fitness schedule to compliment his busy professional lifestyle. He and his wife, Kimberlie, have been happily married for 10 years. They have one child, Cedric Terrell Jr., who is 8 years old. As a family, they routinely go hiking, fishing, and bike riding. They currently reside in San Diego, CA.

On August 19, 2012 the new state of the art Palomar Medical Center facility was opened. With the open of the third medical center Palomar Health now consist of three acute care facilities serving the San Diego, CA, North County District.
