Cynthia Griffin, PharmD Cynthia Griffin is Florida Blue’s (BlueCross BlueShield of Florida) Senior Director of Pharmacy Government Programs. In his role, she is responsible for managing the pharmacy components for the Medicare benefits, maintaining compliance with CMS rules and regulations, and providing oversight and strategic direction for the plan’s Medicare Stars program (medical and pharmacy). She also manages the Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) relationship for the Medicare line of business.
Additionally, she collaborates with internal business partners in the Medicare solutions unit, corporate compliance, care management, sales, service, network and informatics to support the Medicare pharmacy and Stars operations.
Griffin has been with BCBSF since 2006. Her pharmacy experience includes Pharmacy Director for the Duval County Health Department, Clinical Assistant Professor for Florida A&M University, Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, Director of Pharmacist Managed Anticoagulation Clinic, and Director of Primary Care Residency Program.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy and a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from Florida A&M University. She completed an Anticoagulation Traineeship program at the Medical College of Virginia and is a Fellow of the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacist.
Griffin has served on numerous boards and committees including the Downtown Development Authority for the City of Jacksonville, the State Medicaid Physician Prescribing Panel; the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacist Commission on Credentialing and is the Florida State Board of Pharmacy, Chair 2012.
Griffin completed the Executive Leadership Program sponsored by America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) in 2009 and is a Certified Healthcare Insurance Executive. She was a 2011 participant in the Leadership Jacksonville program is a 2009 inductee into the Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy Gallery of Distinction.
She is married to Mark L. Griffin, CPA. She has two daughters Whitney G. Bunion and Crystal R. Griffin. Whitney is a 2011 graduate of Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy. Crystal R. Griffin is a student in the School of Business and Industry at Florida A&M University. Whitney recently completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Baptist Hospital Jacksonville and is currently employed at Baptist. Griffin had the honor of signing her daughter’s pharmacy license while serving as the Board Chair. She also has son-in-law, Tony Bunion and one grandson, Marcus.
She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc and the Bold City Links.
